Break a Leg Theatre is based in Gippsland and we regularly perform original works and recognised drama pieces at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre. We are the producers of the Gippsland Theatre Festival which has run since 2005.
Our development program First Time Theatre, is an opportunity for adults who have never been on stage but always wanted to.
BRASSED OFF
Break a Leg Theatre and City of Traralgon Band have jointly produced Brassed Off, a stage play adapted from the popular movie and follows the fortunes of the Grimley Colliery brass band. Set in a small coal mining town in Yorkshire, the local brass band is considered by the townspeople to be the heart and soul of the community. When the coal mine is threatened with closure the town is faced with redundancies and mass unemployment. The band members find strength to confront these difficulties and work together to save a community in crisis.

Everyone has something to offer at Break a Leg Theatre
Jack was trying out for a part in a school play. He'd set his heart on being in it, though his Mother feared he would not be chosen. On the day the parts were awarded, Jack rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement. "Guess what Mum," he shouted, and then said those words that should be a lesson to us all: "I've been chosen to clap and cheer."
