THE JACARANDA TREE
by Alex Broun

Following on from the success of A Chorus Line, Break a Leg Theatre is preparing for its next production The Jacaranda Tree. This modern Australian drama will be performed in Traralgon for two nights in late October and is directed by Ernie Rijs.

The Jacaranda Tree is a moving story, which takes place in the surrounds of a rammed earth house, built around a beautiful Jacaranda Tree. It tells the story of Rachel, Dan and their son Simon, whose peaceful existence is interrupted by the arrival of an old University friend Richard.

The cast includes Jill McCubbin and Dan Clancey, these two experienced actors take on the challenging roles of husband and wife. The cast also includes Trafalgar drama teacher Steve Wiegerink as Richard and young actor Daniel Hartnell, both in their first roles with Break a Leg Theatre.

The Jacaranda Tree is written by Alex Broun who is one of Australia’s most talented and rising playwrights. Alex has close ties with the Gippsland theatre community, having recently run workshops in playwriting during the Gippsland Theatre Festival. Over 30 of his plays have been produced in many different parts of the world.
